Judy Hartnett

Mathematics Education Consultant
Making Maths Reason-able, QLD

Dr Judy Hartnett is a Mathematics Education Consultant working in schools to support teachers to improve maths learning outcomes for their students. With a primary teaching background and a passion for maths teaching, Judy has worked in maths education as an independent advisor in the government and Catholic education systems, and in universities, for more than 25 years collectively. She is particularly passionate about teaching maths using an inquiry approach and helping students to understand maths, not just ‘do’ maths.

In 2019, Judy joined with a previous colleague from the YuMi Deadly Maths team at Queensland University of Technology to create ‘Learning Through Doing’. This approach to teaching maths provides teachers with detailed inquiry lessons, videos, webinars and professional development all through an online platform. The website is growing and has nearly 100 lessons so far.
